The widespread view that women are in an absolute minority in it, and this profession is not for them, denies Natalia Bogacheva, CEO AgriChain.
What was your way into the agricultural sector?
— All my professional life is work in the agricultural sphere, starting from university and continuing in agrarian holdings. This way began in 2000 with the entrance to the economic faculty of Podolsky State Agro-Technical University, after which entered the post-graduate course and defended the candidate thesis in the economy. For a certain time worked as a teacher, then in the group of companies “Agroproperis” the manager on project management and automation of management reporting. Since 2018, he has been the project manager at the it-company Agri Chain (agro-industrial holding “Astarta-Kyiv”), and from the end of 2019 till today – the director of the company.
Do you agree with the statement that professions are divided into men and women?
— The concept of “men” and “women” professions has always existed. In the 20th century, the struggle of women for their own rights, as we know, has produced significant results and in the case of the grant, more and more are erased. I think it is wrong that such division cannot be in principle, because there are professions that require hard physical work, using men’s power, in difficult conditions — here even the legislation establishes the lack of the ability of women to perform such work.
Of course, there are historically formed “female” or “male” professions, this is a template from which to leave. For example, there is a belief that women are in an absolute minority in it and for them are inaccessible professions. Exactly not – women are good project managers, designers, engineers-developers, testers, and business analysts. Speaking about agro, of course, there are many professions exclusively “men” – it is a reality, but are glad to see trends in increasing women in the management of companies, agronomy, veterinary medicine, procurement, logistics, It, etc.
Is it comfortable to work in agro?
— I am very grateful to the teachers of the university where I studied. I am grateful for respect and love for agriculture. This is a complex, highly corrosive, large-scale, resource-intensive production that provides food security for the entire population of the planet.
I am proud to work in agro. I am a happy person working in a strong team of “Astarta-Kyiv”, and I have an opportunity because of the direction and tools of agtech, which is developed by our company, to influence the efficiency of the business in general.
Agro — perspective for women?
— Agrarian business in Ukraine has become a driving force for economic development, export industry, high-tech, and innovative production. I do not see any difference between peptides in agro for men and women, because I see a lot of examples of successful top managers, managers, and manufacturers. I believe that the agro-industry in Ukraine is a very promising direction for all. Agro is the market segment where you can develop and grow, and most importantly, you really see the result of your work.
What is your motivation for working in this direction?
First of all, I am inspired by people who have brought the agricultural sector to a completely new level in Ukraine. Against the background of the post-Soviet rioviy, incredible Stories of their professional life, and achievements in business. This makes it clear that nothing is impossible, all the persions are in our heads. Secondly, these are the results of work — successful projects, development of automated systems for efficient agribusiness management, development of innovative tools, and complex models of data processing and analysis. Also their implementation and implementation in business processes of companies. As well as real results in the form of added value for the business by their use.
What are the plans for the coming year?
— We continue to develop and implement our own solutions in “Astarta-Kyiv”). We are moving toward the main goal — an innovative, high-tech agricultural company. We want to share our knowledge, expertise, opportunities, and instruments with other market participants. This approach is important for the synergistic and sustainable development of the industry as a whole, so we continue and grow the number of projects for external agricultural companies. AGRICHAIN promotes a culture of caring for the use of natural resources. We achieve this by implementing it-technologies because the success of agribusiness is based on efficiency, not on the number of hectares worked. For this, we fill the system with innovative it-tools with elements of artificial intelligence. Including, we emphasize qualitative analysis on the basis of risk management, we automate processes of planning and management of agribusiness.
