IT IN AGRO. Crop monitoring

Why is it really important in modern agricultural business? Here is only one example, but the process of planting monitoring is very important and very important.

Monitoring of crops is one of the main agribusinesses. Development of it-technologies has created a whole layer of Agtech companies, which are engaged in the direction of monitoring of crops.

In our comprehensive AgriChain management system, we have created a separate it-module, which is responsible for monitoring crops with convenient task management and reporting system.

AgriChain Scout is not just a monitoring platform, it is a platform for analyzing and dynamic forecasting yield in the form of a WEB application and a mobile application with integration with the 1C accounting system.

The system allows to collect and analyze information about the condition of crops from different sources (historical, satellite, aerial photos), to automatically plan field surveys, plan individual rules of the survey in the field of culture, to detect risks (diseases, pests, weeds) in time for making decisions on their operative elimination.

In our product we have realized five main functions, without which scalping is not canceled in conditions of modern agribusiness:

Vegetation indices

Thanks to NDVI farmers can not only have a characteristic of the density of the plant but also predict future productivity from the treated area.

AgriChain Scout it-solutions include NDVI tools as a constant, namely REVI2, and GNDVI, plus added soil moisture from NASA with a fast response system.

Having at hand an it-tool, which skillfully put indexes on one another, structures, and is able to form historical data, the agrarians will be able to make effective management decisions in advance.

Satellite images

Satellite images are very underestimated by the agrarians of the old school. In the conditions of lower prices for agricultural products, when fighting for each cent, to introduce means of plant protection, for example, during the first leaf period on the whole area without taking into account the landscape and weather – this is ungrounded expenses.

Proper structuring and analysis of satellite images, is one of the most economically justified instruments for agronomists.

The it-solution AgriChain Scout has a mobile and web series. Satellite images are loaded from two of the most widely used and reliable satellites: Landsat and Sentinel.

Functionalities of our solution:

automatic loading of images;
automatic calculation of areas with different vegetation;
grouping of images: field, date, culture;
creation of electronic maps for work on processed areas;
conduct of field zoning according to criteria necessary for agricultural work, depending on culture, seasons of the year, etc.

From now on, the cliff always knows, with the accuracy to a meter, where the problem site is and what to do with it.

 Drones

AgriChain Scout has an open API, so it integrates aerial photography without problems and has built-in tools and structures for capturing historical moments from the field. This allows for more balanced approaches to planting planning, land management structures, etc. in future periods.

However, the return on the use of drones is still under great question in Ukraine. Mobile Internet coverage in the fields and in 2020 is insufficient, and it is not very convenient to transfer photos with the pest on a leaf, which sometimes weighs tens of gigabytes. That is why it is necessary to send a photo report of the flights to the main office – it is to load on a flash, to get points with high-speed Internet, to spend a lot of time, fuel, human-hours, and this time sometimes very expensive to agrarians.

TMS – task management system

Task Management System in AgriChain Scout is a task management process for scouts through its life cycle. It includes planning, tracking, and reporting. Task management helps to achieve the main goal – the date of the planned harvest.

Business intelligence (BI)

Convenient tools for collecting, storing, and analyzing data created during agronomic cycles are very important. Without real, historical data, it is impossible to make effective management decisions – and processing dozens of efficiency indicators with the help of tables’ displays is a rather difficult task.

Well, and in conclusion, it is important to note that the implementation of clear and tested decisions is a guarantee of increasing economic efficiency, which is so sought by the agribusiness of Ukraine.
